慰安婦一波未平,教科書一波又起。最近,日本教科書宣示對竹島(韓國稱獨島)的主權,引起韓國激烈抗議。不過,韓國政府也堅持要求教科書必須反映愛國觀點。BBC駐首爾記者說,日韓之間的歷史恩怨,想躲也躲不開,何時才能擺平?
日本人想忘了,恐怕也相當難。首爾,城堡般的日本大使館前,馬路對面有一座青銅雕像:一位身著韓服的甜美少女坐在椅子上。椅子下面擺著一雙秀氣的鞋。這是真鞋,反日抗議者放在那兒的。雨天,他們會為少女披上外衣;冷了,會給她頭上戴頂帽子。這名少女是慰安婦,第二次世界大戰期間在日本軍中作性奴的韓國女性。少女滿臉天真,一雙純潔的眼睛盯著馬路對面的日本大使館。靜靜地坐在那兒,無聲地控訴著。從使館裏走出來的所有日本外交官想躲也躲不開。
銅像前,人行道上嵌著一塊石板,上面的解說詞說,這是為「日本軍中性奴」建立的「和平紀念碑」。看上去好像有點不配套。很難想像,從塑像前經過的日本人會把它看作韓國表示和平的象徵。別忘了,日本人必須從塑像面前經過,因為它就擺在必經之路上
如果日本外交官們選擇走到駐首爾大使館另外一邊的話,他們也許可以去看一看韓國國家當代歷史博物館。現在,博物館中正在舉辦的特別展覽是,紀念100多年前刺殺日本首相的大韓民族主義者的一生。殖民者(伊藤博文)倒地身亡,行刺者(安重根)揮舞大韓國旗。
展覽名叫「回聲」。從解說詞中可以看出,博物館的意思是,1909年10月26日的槍聲依然在今天引起迴響。
動手行刺前三天,安重根曾經寫道,「東風漸寒兮,壯士義烈;忿慨一去兮,必成目的。」東風,當然是來自日本。直到今天,東風依然讓韓國降溫。
上個月,曾經用刀砍傷美國大使臉部的那位韓國民族主義者也曾經向日本大使投擲過石塊。日本和美國都是韓國民族主義者的目標。日本是因為在1910年到1945年間對韓國的殖民統治,美國則是因為至今仍然在韓國有駐軍。
我 有時候會和一位日本外交官會面、一起吃午飯。感覺不錯。一小碟一小碟的生魚,端上來一看,猶如藝術品,好像永遠不應該侵犯。當然了,我們還是要侵犯的,菜 就是給人吃的嘛。但是,拿筷子,吃的方式也很秀氣、很講究。我們會抿著茶,低聲聊日韓兩國的關係。這位日本外交官覺得韓國的敵意很有意思。
最近這一次韓國的不滿再次高漲,起因是日本修改教科書,重申對日韓兩國有爭議的竹島(韓國稱獨島)的主權。
日本這樣做,結果呢,就在這個月初,我那位飯友的上級領導、日本駐大使被韓國政府叫去聽了一頓訓話。
眼下,日韓兩國好像在打一場「書戰」。韓國譴責日本通過這些反映著明確的日本民族主義觀點的歷史教科書。不過在韓國,政府也希望官方大力影響編纂教科書。韓國高等法院不久前判決,政府可以堅持要求教科書必須反映愛國的韓國立場。
沒完沒了地爭論還在繼續,隔岸的美國人只能無奈地旁觀。在他們眼裏,中國越來越強大,自己在東亞這最大的兩個盟友卻在不停地對罵、對攻。
有一句諺語說「筆比劍更有力」。懷疑論者說了,這肯定指的是一柄非常非常短、非常非常鈍的劍和一桿非常非常長、非常非常鋒利的筆。
但是,懷疑論者這樣的看法是錯誤的。讀歷史確實很重要。如何詮釋歷史,也反映著如何界定現在,並且會在長遠的未來引發、至少也會保持過去的敵意。
不過,必須說明的一點是,張口舉書的打仗肯定要比動刀動槍要好得多。
